TERGRES ELECTRIC · TAMPA BAY · ELECTRIC TANKLESS WATER HEATERS

Electric tankless water heater installation starts with the right electrical capacity.

Switching to an electric tankless water heater? These systems can draw substantially more current than conventional tank-style heaters. TERGRES helps plan the electrical portion of the installation, including service capacity, required circuits, wiring and safe coordination with the plumbing work.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The correct electrical design comes before installation

Electric tankless units may require multiple dedicated 240-volt circuits. The actual load, conductor sizes, overcurrent protection and panel or service requirements must follow the selected manufacturer's instructions, applicable electrical code and local permitting rules.

Electrical items we review

  • Whole-home electrical load calculation and available service capacity
  • Manufacturer-specified voltage, power, breaker quantities and ratings
  • Dedicated circuits, conductor sizing, wiring routes, panel space and grounding
  • Permit and inspection needs, installation sequence and coordination with a qualified plumbing contractor
Electrical scope and any necessary panel or service changes are confirmed after evaluating the property and product. Plumbing work requires appropriate separate authorization.
COMMON PROJECT TYPES

Which tankless project are you planning?

01

Replacing a traditional electric tank water heater

An electric tankless system may need several new high-current circuits rather than a single existing water-heater circuit. We review the panel and incoming service before proposing a conversion.

02

Installing a point-of-use heater

A smaller unit serving one sink or another point of use can have different circuit requirements. The selected product and intended flow determine the practical installation scope.

03

Adding a larger whole-home tankless unit

A high-capacity model can substantially change the home's calculated electrical demand. We evaluate whether additional circuits, a panel change or utility service work may be necessary.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Electric Tankless Water Heater Installation in Tampa Bay

Can a tankless water heater use my existing water-heater breaker?

Not necessarily. Many electric tankless heaters require multiple dedicated breakers and circuits. The exact requirements come from the manufacturer's data and a load evaluation.

Will I need to upgrade my electrical panel or service?

Possibly, but it depends on the heater rating, available capacity and applicable load calculations. We evaluate those factors before recommending changes.

Does TERGRES handle water piping connections too?

TERGRES's electrical work covers the appropriate electrical installation and coordination. Connections to domestic water piping require a properly authorized plumbing trade, whether separately contracted or coordinated as part of the project.

Can you estimate the electrical work without a site visit?

The model number, photos, existing panel data and property details help with preliminary planning. A site evaluation may still be necessary to confirm routing and conditions.

Electrical services only within the qualified license scope. Water-supply connections and plumbing modifications must be performed by an appropriately authorized professional. Gas tankless installations are not covered by this electric service page.
